Classic Charleston Engagement Session | Charleston Wedding Photographer
I have always wanted to photograph a wedding and an engagement session in my favorite place on earth ever since we started this business! However we did not find our first Charleston couple how I imaged I would find them. A few months ago we photographed Mehgan and Chad’s Proposal at the Biltmore Estate (Check out their post here!).
We wanted to celebrate their engagement in Downtown Asheville and hopped around town to different places exploring the city! At one of our stops we ran into Chris and Rachel and chatted a bit and found out they live in Charleston! After talking with them briefly, James had an awesome idea to ask them if they would be interested in an engagement session while we were in Charleston for our yearly trip. I thought he was crazy! Who would trust complete strangers to do their engagement session?? Little did I know that Chris has never met a stranger!!
As we were planning they had some secret places in mind for the photos which, of course, I was so excited to explore! There are so many beautiful spots for photos and my photographer heart was SO happy! We ended up starting the session at their first date restaurant, Eli’s Table. The staff and owner greeted us with amazing Champagne at the door and were so kind in allowing us to take some photos in their restaurant! I’m so glad we finished the night here with dinner so we could try their delicious entrees (thanks again Chris and Rachel for dinner!)! James and I will definitely be adding this restaurant to our yearly visit list in Charleston.
The Battery park and the other secret alley spots offered the perfect variety for their gallery. We had so much fun despite the heat and humidity. We stayed at Battery Park a little longer than the other locations because of the amazing ocean breeze and those gorgeous live oak trees local to Charleston. The Uber drives to each location came in clutch so that we all didn’t sweat too badly.
We enjoyed getting to know these two over dinner. It honestly felt like we had known these two for years because they were so genuine and we had so much in common! We were so grateful for them giving up their entire evening on a week night for these engagement photos. I think we made it worth it because these are some of my favorite images of all time!!
Between the location, this couple, and their perfect outfits, I could cry happy tears!! If you have followed us from the beginning you know how far we have come. I am so excited to start chipping away at my business bucket list by photographing our first Charleston couple!! I can’t wait for our first of many Charleston, SC weddings!!!
