Rustic Fall Wedding at The Pavilion at Blackwater Junction Wedding | Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

I have never been more nervous about the weather before a ceremony than this wedding. We always watch the weather closely the week of our weddings but the closer we got the more treacherous this thunderstorm looked! I am just thanking my lucky stars it was Callie and Buff’s wedding day. These two could not be more laid back even when the rumbles started and the sky looked like the end times. We were outside doing photos of Callie and her girls and the thunder just wouldn’t stop but my sweet bride didn’t worry one bit!!

I am so thankful she had so much trust in us to tackle whatever the weather had in store. The DJ even came into the bridal suite to check on her and discuss last minute rain plans for her ceremony! That may not sound like a big deal to have the DJ involved in the rain plan but honestly hiring the right vendors for your day is so crucial! When situations like thunderstorms come up, everyone you hired for your day has to work together to make the best decision for you.

This was actually our first time photographing at The Pavilion at Blackwater Junction and I fell in love with not only the property and views but the story behind the how this venue started! Check out their story HERE. Callie told me that she LOVED this particular spot for photos and at first this giant rock didn’t sound impressive. However, when we showed up and saw this giant rock, pond, horses & cows, old barns, and the views I was sold! We started their portrait time at the giant rock and I am so glad we did. Most of the wedding day was overcast but just as we started doing portraits the sun peeked back out from the clouds and we had some glow for their portraits!! I know that overcast is easier for photos but I love a little glow in my images so this was a wedding day miracle!

This was another wedding day first for us to have dogs included their ceremony!! Howie and Clyde joined us for their engagement session this past winter and that’s when we knew that these dogs were something special to Buff and Callie. I love my fur babies too and if I could have included them in my wedding I so would have (I can’t imgine how destructive they would be though…). They are some of the most well behaved pups we’ve worked with and stop the show during the ceremony! Their floppy ears and adorable bow ties just melt my heart!

So before I share the beautiful images from this wedding I wanted to share how I met Callie and Misty (her momma). About this time last year I decided to try the “Greater Roanoke Virginia Bridal Show” in January 2019. As a bride those events are overwhelming usually because there is always so much going on and so much to see and taste! On the vendor side of things its really a gamble because you might not book any brides at all. Bridal shows cost well over $1000 after paying the fee for show, print materials, a cute backdrop, sample photos, etc. All that time and money invested in one show can be scary and you are not guaranteed anything.

This was also the first show we did under MY name, Emily Hancock Photography. However, these two ladies were one of the first to stop by my booth! In fact, they stopped by another 2 or 3 times just to say hi, look at my booth again, and BOOK ME at the show! I had never had a bride do that before and I seriously cried happy tears after the show ended! So Callie and Misty have been so special to me since the beginning. Being a part of wedding days means so much to me because James and I become part of the family and capture such sweet moments throughout the day. We really do have the best job because of our couples.

This rustic fall wedding at Pavilion at Blackwater Junction was a DREAM and I can’t wait to share some of my favorites with you, enjoy!
