Rustic Spring Wedding | Rustic Barn Lynchburg, Virginia Wedding
Oh boy. Another rainy wedding for James and I. And I never WANT rain at any wedding but we especially wanted clear skies this past weekend because of the ceremony location. Emily and Cody chose to have their ceremony at Sorella Farms’ newest ceremony location: In the Woods. This ceremony is tucked away in the romantic forest scene at this barn wedding venue and gives me major Taylor Swift vibes! Emily and I planned out so many different photo ideas for their ceremony, portraits, etc. and all of our planning was sadly disrupted by the weather. Plus here in Lynchburg, Virginia we have been experiencing some crazy colder weather! Usually we go from chilly wintery weather to HOT summer temps but this wedding experienced some cold temps and wind we weren’t planning on.
Emily planned out every detail, crossed every T, dotted every I in preparation for this day. Like one of the top 5 most detail oriented brides I’ve ever worked with (I’m still so proud of her!!!) and because of her preparation, we were still able to make the best of the day. It rained pretty much all day up until after their ceremony. Emily and Cody made the right call to switch to the rain plan because boy did the skies open up right as their ceremony was supposed to start.
Fortunately the rain took a break after the ceremony and we were able to sneak a few non-rainy bridal party photos as well as some of the most romantic and whimsy bride and groom portraits! We rode up to the ceremony site: In the Woods, at Sorella Farms, and within 10-15 minutes grabbed as many portraits as we could get! Between their video team and our posing, we kept these two busy making some magic! The shots we got with them playing around with Emily’s veil are some of my favorites of the day!! Emily chose the most photogenic veil and the light wind caught it just right to make these portraits so dreamy, whimsy, and romantic!
At the very end of their post you’ll see my other favorite photos of the day. It’s one that we get with every one of our couples: The famous group photo! And this wedding had another EH Couple present so you know we snagged one with Mehgan & Chad (& baby P)! If you’ve been following us for awhile you may recognize them from our 2020 wedding season. But we always like to grab a photo with our couples to add to our collection from over the years!! And it’s always so fun to grab larger group photos when we work with couples who are in the bridal party.
I am a little sad this day has come and gone because I have so enjoyed working with this detailed & laid back couple! They made so many of my photography dreams come true from our trip with them to Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC, to a box full of bridal details & styling accents complete with a hand written list of all the items, to a joy filled pre-ceremony atmosphere & attitude even when it was raining cats and dogs outside! Seriously so thankful to call these two friends and we are so blessed to be able to capture this season of life for them!!!
