A Spring Roanoke Wedding | Roanoke Wedding Photographer
This is one of my favorite wedding days in my career and I am not even kidding! I know that this pandemic changed the way this wedding was supposed to look like but Bonnie’s support team and vendors really created a beautiful and unique wedding day. When James and I first arrived, it was SO HARD not hug anyone. Our couples and their families are always so warm and welcoming on wedding days and we usually start and end the day with hugs. The distance we had to keep at this wedding was heartbreaking but air hugs will have to do during this time!
This was our first ever front porch wedding but by the gorgeous floral arrangements and decor you would think this was a true wedding venue! I loved how simple and elegant the details were for this intimate ceremony & reception. Mary Jo with Gloriosa, did a fabulous job on all the floral arrangements and design! She even made a special wreath that Bonnie and Dylan can take home and have as a reminder from their day.
This wedding day timeline looked a little different and if I’m being honest, I LOVED it!! We had an entire HOUR for bride and groom portraits!! So Bonnie and Dylan have more than the usual amount of photos to hang on their wall. We love first looks because our couples get about an hour (split up) on wedding days for portraits. However, without any bridal party and minimal family formals, we were able to have plenty of time to take portraits at multiple locations! It also helps that these two are amazing models! I didn’t even have to tell Dylan what to do most of the time because he either read my mind or remembered his poses from the engagement session!!
So we ended their portrait time in a SECRET location that may or may not have been behind the local fire station. Before we pulled to the house at the beginning of the day, James and I pulled into an empty parking lot at a fire station. We were running over plans one last time, saying a little prayer for the day, and getting our gear ready when I looked up and saw this beautiful view. We pulled the car around the side of the building only to see this epic mountain view!! We were SO EXCITED to find this hidden gem of a location and made sure it was OK to go on the property for 5-10 minutes for portraits. This epic portrait location gave their portraits the perfect variety for their final gallery! I think their portraits turned out beautifully for a “front porch wedding”, if I don’t say so myself!! 🙂
I know that this pandemic spoiled the initial wedding day plans but my hope is that they have happy and fun memories with all of the surprises and special gifts they received this past Saturday. 🙂 Bonnie and Dylan, you guys have such kind spirits, cheerful attitudes, and friends and family that love you so much! You guys are truly blessed!! I am so glad James and I could be a part of their wedding day and we are looking forward to celebrate with them and their bridal party later this year!! It’s going to be a mini EH Bride Reunion and I can’t wait!! 🙂

Vendor Highlights:
This front porch wedding in Roanoke, Virginia featured some amazing vendors and the links to their websites are below!
Planner: Andrea stepped into this role as planner when this pandemic changed the game plan. She opened up her home for Bonnie & Dylan’s limited guests and wedding day celebrations and I am so blessed to have worked with this woman. She thought of every detail and with the help of Mary Jo, these two ladies really made Dylan & Bonnie’s day special! She even Facetimed me before the wedding day and gave me a house tour so James and I could form a game plan! She didn’t know it, but her home is so photogenic and her beautiful front porch was the perfect location for their intimate ceremony!
Florist: Mary Jo with Gloriosa was phenomenal! She went above and beyond the role of a florist to create spectacular display of floral for Dylan & Bonnie’s ceremony and reception. The attention to detail and stunning floral selections gave Bonnie’s bridal details the perfect classic look she wanted! Mary Jo turned a small intimate front porch ceremony into a bright and happy garden wedding! In addition to all of her hard work and planning, she also gifted Bonnie & Dylan with a beautiful wreath they could keep for years to come to remember their wedding day. Her attention to detail and love for her clients was so refreshing during this crazy time we live in. I can’t wait to work with her again once this quarantine is over with!!
