Venues Mini Series | Lynchburg Wedding Photographer
I am going to share my favorite venues for bright and colorful wedding day photos in different areas of Virginia and possibly even another surprise location!!! Yes it is a destination place for me and I am so excited to share those with you soon!! For now, I am started at home with a few local venues that I have been dying to photograph and ones that I feel offer beautiful and unique portrait opportunities!! TECHNICALLY speaking, two of these venues are outside of Lynchburg but they are close enough to home so I included those two as well!
I consider these venues to have great spots for our type of style of photography. James and I love to edit true to life showcasing the joy and emotions of the day in a natural candid way. We edit brighter with bright pops of color that represent our couples’ wedding day in a timeless and clean way. In order to get this look we always look for plenty of natural light in getting ready spaces or a front porch to bring our couples outside for photos. We also look for multiple portrait locations and the light available in the reception spaces (Fun fact:Tents are some of the BEST reflectors of light for reception photos).

Sorella Farms
This wedding venue is near and dear to my heart. We haven’t photographed a wedding here yet but James and I were IN a wedding at this gorgeous venue!! My little brother and James’ little sister got married here in 2019!!
I love all that this venue has to offer. Your guests and the party are all in one spot so everyone is included in the fun and reception events. It also makes it easy for James and I to capture special moments throughout the night since everyone is together. For bride & groom portraits there are several spots perfect with different backdrops so this venue has plenty of variety!
As a small business I love to support other family owned/local businesses and Sorella Farm’s owners are also near and dear to my heart! Our wedding photographer’s -Adam & Sarah Mullins (The Mullins Photo Co) – family owns this property!! So if you are looking for an elegant & rustic southern wedding feel this venue is for you!!

Glass Hill Venue
This beautiful mountain view venue is on my list as well because of the family behind the brand as well as their stunning mountain views! We are so fortunate to be photographing 3 weddings at Glass Hill Venue this year and I cannot wait!!
Like Sorella Farms, this venue keeps everyone in the same place making reception coverage easy for your vendors. The scenic views and variety in portrait locations give me so much inspiration. You could explore this property for hours and only see half of what it has to offer!!
The other perk, in my opinion, is the gorgeous and cozy bridal suite! This space is full of natural light and plenty of space for even a larger bridal party! As a natural light photographer it is so important for venues to have plenty of windows for natural light and this venue definitely has that!!

Riverview Manor
Even though this wedding venue is a little farther south of Lynchburg I had to add to my list here because I find it so charming! I recently discovered this when I was helping one of my brides search for a new venue- due to the Rona. And I just thought it was the cutest place!
From the looks of previous weddings this venue has so much to offer for wedding day portraits with different views and backdrops. I love the southern charm the Manor has from the front porch especially! So if you are looking to have your wedding at this unique Riverview Manor venue, let me know because I would love to capture your day here!
Atkinson Farm
Even though this wedding venue is a little farther south of Lynchburg (Danville, Virginia), you don’t want to miss this one! This property is so huge and the portrait locations are endless! The drive in to go to the barn and lodge is breathtaking and you can see the different ponds and views they have for portraits.
This property is perfect for the wedding day because it offers different spots on the property for the bridal party to get ready separate without having to worry about seeing each other. This makes sharing a first look super easy!! Even though everyone is separated during the getting ready part of the day, everyone is still on the property making it easy for my second shooter and husband, James, to help me at a moments notice!
Sometimes he is a 10-15 minute drive from the venue which can make rainy wedding days difficult on our team. Along with everyone at the venue, this large modern barn is perfect for a band and has a huge dance floor to dance the night away! The last wedding we did here was seriously one of the biggest weddings we’ve photographed and boy did they know how to party!!

Waverly Estate
This is another new venue I found in my search for one of my COVID-19 couples! This is a little outside of Lynchburg but trust me when I say this venue is worth a little drive. The southern estate feel of this Virginia venue is exactly what most of my brides have been looking for in a venue! I love the portrait locations on this property and all these windows offer incredible natural light for a reception!
The reception space alone is breathe-taking and I know that my couples who prioritize photography would love their reception dancing shots in here! So if you are considering this Virginia estate wedding venue, we would love to capture your day here!
