Elegant Wedding at The Seclusion in Lexington, Virginia | Lexington Wedding Photographer
This is one of my favorite venues in all of Virginia. The Seclusion by far offers one of the most unique and luxurious experiences for weddings I have ever been a part of. The views even when it rains (and it definitely did for this wedding) is spectacular! Evan and Cory have traveled the world the world together- seriously they have backpacked across Asia, skied in the Swiss Alps, explored desserts, and hiked so many beautiful landscapes! So they were on the hunt for an epic view for their ceremony and I’m so glad they found The Seclusion because rain or not, this view is goosebump worthy!
Because of their epic journey through life together thus far I had high expectations for their wedding day to be just as epic. So when I saw the thunderstorm forecast starting at the same time as their ceremony till the end of the day, you can imagine how bummed I was to hear that. I knew how important it was to Evan & Cory to have this view for their ceremony and I thought that if it rained they would have to move it inside. BUT I WAS WRONG… We are getting to that part…
James and I arrived extra early because according to the radar we were going to have sunshine for most the morning/early afternoon! So I knew that if we rearranged the timeline (basically flip the plan Evan and I carefully put together) then we could still give them the bride and groom portraits they really wanted with that view! Evan and Cory (and their planner Julie) trusted us to flip the day and I’m so glad we did because thanks to their flexible first look timeline, they were able to get incredible portraits with that view before the rain!! We soaked up as much time as we could getting all the variety in portraits and were even able to get family formals done before the rain comes!
Well the rain certainly did come and these two shocked me because they didn’t move their ceremony inside! They were bound and determined to have that ceremony view rain or shine. James and I braced the weather along with their guests and I have to say these are some of the most epic ceremony photos we’ve ever gotten! The rain really adds to moment and I’m so impressed that even most of their guests braved the storm with us to witness these two tie the knot.
All in all, this day will forever be one of my favorites for the simplistic and elegant feel, of course the rainy ceremony, the amazing vendor team, and my most worldly traveled couple ever! Weddings like this one remind me why I love this job so much and I’m so grateful that these two trusted us to capture their day. Enjoy a few of my favorites from this wedding at The Seclusion in Lexington, Virginia.
