Logan and Claira, you’re the first couple to ever take us on a destination wedding adventure!! We are so grateful you chose us to be a part of this fun, memorable, and epic season of life! You two just radiate joy and love wherever you are and you remind us of why we love what we do! We love working with couples who actively seek out ways to show love for each other and their marriage. Between the sweetest surprises you two planned for each other, the way you would stay together in arms reach at your reception, the well practiced dances, the impromptu speech from Lagan sharing his love for you, the happy tears when you saw each other for the time during your first look, etc I can tell just how much you two were meant to become one.
You compliment each other so well and I’m so glad you kept in mind what really matters after this day: your marriage!! Wedding planning is hard enough on couples, especially those in school, moving, etc. but these two encountered something I have NEVER encountered before in my 6+ years and experience photographing weddings. Wild fires burning part of their venue!!! When I say that I was frozen and speechless on this phone call I’m not kidding. Like holy cow this was a curveball that no one ever wants to navigate. Ashley, the owner of Sabrina Cedars, and her family have had to navigate losing not only part of this absolutely stunning wedding venue in Abilene, Texas but also losing their home on the property. She is such a sweet soul and I’ve seen first hand how intentionally she serves her couples getting married there. It was such an honor to be the first photographer to document a wedding in this new chapter for their venue!!
I know there was talk of switching venues in the last 3 weeks before the wedding because of this… Fortunately, the main barn with the stunning bridal & groom suites, their ceremony site, and favorite backdrop for their photos survived the wild fires! Thank the Lord!! And that was the sign they needed to keep the wedding there. They didn’t want to focus too much on the burnt surroundings but we did get some portraits with that as the backdrop. It’s a part of their story- a sad part I’ll admit- but what a great depiction of life and how marriage was created by God to last through trying times & hardships!!
This elegant white barn wedding at Sabrina Cedars was everything I could ever ask for in our first destination wedding. We loved having the opportunity to explore a new area and backdrop for photos! Don’t get me wrong, photographing weddings in Virginia never disappoints with those beautiful mountain views but it was so cool working with Texas landscape! James and I love traveling together and making it an adventure. We’ve had the best time photographing several destination engagement sessions but this trip was extra special for us! We are so thankful these families trusted us to capture this special season of life (it was actually the second wedding we’ve worked with the Lingenfelter fam!).
