Couples Session | Roanoke Photographer
This was such a fun session I did a few weeks ago for this sweet couple. They invited me to their home to take some pictures with them and their ferocious guard dog. When I first arrived to their house I heard this deep scary bark and was expecting a 60 pound (or larger) dog to greet me. Ya’ll know I have 2 large dogs so I was not worried in the slightest but instead I was greeted with… Zoe.
This itty bitty thing with the cutest teal bow collar. I could not take her bark seriously after meeting her! And she is the sweetest thing in case you were wondering (unless you hold her favorite toy over your camera you’ll see what I mean)! When I got in the house I started playing with her and she warmed up to me and the camera! I could not get enough of her at this shoot!
Josh and Courtney are two of the sweetest souls on this earth and it is such an honor to be a part of their adoption story! One of my best friends was adopted as a baby and knowing her story makes me so excited for these new parents. Our wedding photographers (The Mullins Photo Co) are also huge supporters of adoption and it has been so cool to see their family grow and thrive together! So this session was dear to my heart!
Josh and Courtney’s house was the perfect location for this session and all of Courtney’s decor just added the perfect pop and style for their shoot. I told them I wanted her to come decorate my house because everything was so beautiful and welcoming! If you want some amazing home decor inspiration, that is Pinterest worthy, then check out the some of my favorite shots below! I have only done hand full of in home sessions and this one was definitely special for me. I love their story and their kind spirits. Adoption takes a special heart and mindset, which I can tell by the time I had with them, fits them perfectly. I asked them what they were most excited about for their new family and I just love their response!!
We are most excited about the activities that we can participate in as a family. We look forward to seeing the world through a child’s eyes as he/she grows.
Oh my gosh I just love it and it gives me chills and I feel like Walt Disney said that at some point. I loved our time together and I’m so glad our sweet friends Maggie and Charlie (getting married this October) connected us! Check out their engagement session HERE! I asked Courtney and Josh what they would tell others looking to adopt and they were so sweet and willing to share some recommendations to help others! So check out those resources at the end!!
Enjoy my favorites from this Roanoke Virginia couples session!
What is something you would say to encourage someone who is considering adopting?
Do your research. Don’t hesitate, life will never present the perfect timing. Dismiss the ideology of giving praise to the potential adoptive parents and keep the best interest of the child in mind.
