I don’t how I luck out with working with the most easy going, adventurous, and photogenic couples but we do!! I actually only met Emily & Justin via Facetime before their wedding day to finalize all the details for their day. Normally we like to meet our couples in person at an engagement session to get a feel for their personalities and what poses look best for them. But of course that can’t always happen especially when we work with busy military couples like these two! But ya know, they didn’t need that session to warm up at all!! I did hear they practiced some posing on their own before the day especially when it came to adjusting to that bright midday sun! 🙂

I’m so glad they did practice that because boy did the sun shine for their beautiful mountain top ceremony!! The theme for this day was mountains and they couldn’t have picked a better view for this ceremony! James and I had actually never been to Wintergreen before this wedding but we have always wanted to make the trip up to see this famous ceremony spot! And now I get the hype! Unfortunately, the smoke from the forest fires out west clouded our views somewhat. But honestly, I thought it gave the view a more romantic vibe, what do you think??

One of my favorite moments was actually right after the ceremony where we had everyone at the wedding grab a confetti popper and do a fun group shot! I wish more couples would do ceremony exits with poppers because this was SO much fun to capture!!!

And speaking of unique things to do at a wedding, we loved how creative these two got with their ideas for their portraits! Justin & Emily requested a few specific portraits together and one of them was a few of them riding the ski lift!! Well, of course, that’s not really running during July… but that didn’t stop these two!! Justin helped Em (carefully) into the ski lift for some of the cutest photos!! I’m so glad they were willing to climb into that lift in their wedding attire because those shots are priceless!!

I had such a hard time choosing my favorite portraits because they are just beautiful people!! And their sweet friends and family made us feel so welcome at the reception! This was another wedding we had seats at a table instead of just a corner in the reception!! It’s the small things in life that bring joy 🙂

I’m sad we couldn’t spend more time with these two because I already feel like we’ve been friends for years! But please enjoy reliving this beautiful mountain top wedding at Wintergreen Resort and keep an eye out for their reels recap on my Instagram!!
