Cody & Emily’s Charleston Engagement Session | Charleston Wedding Photographer
If you’ve been following me for any amount of time you probably know that I absolutely LOVE Charleston, South Carolina. I love how welcoming the people are, the old historical town vibe, the beautiful beaches, stunning photography backdrops, the delicious food, etc. I am could go on and on…
James and I have been making a few trips each year to Charleston and was SO CLOSE to moving here during the year we don’t speak of (2020). But we love any chance to see Charleston and their beautiful plantations! I am a sucker for Spanish Moss and these iconic Charleston Plantation backdrops! So when Emily and Cody mentioned this as their engagement session idea I was so excited!!!
We started out in the place Cody proposed to Emily at Magnolia Plantations. They shared the story with us on the way over to the plantation. We walked through the gardens at Magnolia and stopped by all the iconic scenes! Thankfully the light was beautiful the day we planned for this session!! You could say that I was in photography heaven!!
Once we finished at Magnolia Planation we made our way to downtown Charleston where we explored the Battery and Rainbow Row. They wanted to utilize some classic Charleston engagement session locations. I have so many locations on my bucket list for a session but these two places we stopped at are iconic!!
We have been to the Battery so often we knew where the best spots are for photos! Almost every trip to Charleston James and I grab lunch to go from one of our favorite spots and head to the Battery to eat lunch with our favorite view of the Cooper River.
And over the years I’ve taken many a headshot at the famous Rainbow Row. So I know how to navigate all the tourists at those painted ladies! We managed to avoid the crowds because of my secret (DM me if you wanna know my secret!!). Honestly, we were so lucky throughout this entire session because bystanders at Magnolia Plantation and downtown Charleston were so helpful and gracious to wait for us to grab these photos!
This session with Emily & Cody will forever be one of my favorites!! I loved spending this extra time with them in my favorite city! We learned so much about Emily & Cody and their story which of course will come in handy for their wedding day in May 2022!
