Reed & Lauren’s Downtown Roanoke Wedding | Roanoke, Virginia Wedding
This was not your average summer downtown wedding in Roanoke, Virginia!! Reed and Lauren have actually been married for a few years now- during the pandemic. They wanted to celebrate with their closest friends and family and boy was it a day to remember!
The day started out so chill I can’t even tell you how at peace everyone was getting ready. Why was it so peaceful? They didn’t have any bridal party. While I do love working with a bridal party at weddings, these groups of people (no matter how big or small) can bring a level of chaos to wedding days haha! But when I walked into the hotel suite it was beyond chill and Lauren was ahead of schedule with her hair and makeup. That’s something else that doesn’t typically happen on a wedding day with bridal parties!
The boys headed over to the Center in the Square to scope out the first look location. We ended up choosing the rooftop because it was supposed to rain later that evening and these two wanted the view of the rooftop for at least some of their photos. I’m also beyond grateful that the smoke from the fires up north moved away from the valley! Earlier in the week smoke was stealing the view a little bit and I was certain that the smoke would ruin any chance of the view they wanted. I’m so glad we started on roof because the lighting was perfect, the mountain views were Crystal clear, and it wasn’t too terribly hot with the light breeze!
Reed and Lauren’s portraits on the roof are definitely in my top 5 favorite moments of the year!!! Seriously these two are models and made taking photos on a rooftop in the heat look easy! We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and getting creative with the downtown Roanoke backdrops.
Their ceremony and reception was the perfect intimate gathering. All of their friends and family were so sweet and we loved getting some candid moments throughout the night as everyone enjoyed conversations and the dance floor under the stars! Lauren also had a surprise for everyone with an outfit change! This second dress could twirl with such elegance and it added the perfect movement for their special dances. We made sure to grab a few photos of the reception dress at the end of the night. We ended with the lit up downtown Roanoke skyline and one of my favorite posing prompts, the lift!
All in all, this beautiful summer wedding in downtown Roanoke was so fun to be a part of! We had the best time working with our good friend Andrea, with Andrea Ferris Events. Lauren and Reed, you guys will go down in EHP history as one of the best and easiest couples to pose and work with!
